GAS: ENERGY AND ECONOMY
The Colombian Association of Petroleum Engineers – Acipet - invited the professionals of the oil industry to participate in the VII Colombian Congress of Petroleum. In this event ACIPET had the participation of all the professional organizations linked to the industry. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, SPE - Society of Petroleum Engineers - and the patronage of the Colombian Petroleum Company ECOPETROL.
In the VII Colombian Petroleum Congress, research and development papers were presented, improvement and adaptation of technologies applied to different processes and activities of the oil industry. Apart from having carried out the forum that analyzed the impact and the transcendency of natural gas in the industrial and economic development of the country.
The participation of international lecturers, and the presentation of technical papers in the different areas of the oil industry, were fundamental to the success achieved by this congress.
Objectives
The main Objective of the Congress was the technological study and the economic analysis of the development and the use of natural gas as a source of alternate energy, and as a raw material of the petro-chemical industry of the country.
The VII Colombian Congress of Petroleum looks towards strengthening the integration of the companies, professional associations and Universities linked to the Colombian oil industry. It also sought to evaluate the developments reached regarding the environment highlighting their relationship with the oil industry.
It emphasized the analysis of the investigational projects carried out by university lecturers and students .
The magisterial lectures and the forums informed of recent technological developments of the industry and the important rules that contributed to the development the political strategy for gas.
Objectives of the CD
To present to the National Government suggestion and concrete proposals
To present and debate the technical and scientific advances of the national and international oil industry
To integrate the different professional disciplines and occupations involved in the oil industry.
Congress 1999
VII Congress
The VIII Colombian Petroleum Congress convoked professionals of the oil industry. This event had the support of the Mines and Energy Ministry, Environment Ministry and the ECOPETROL company.
Under the slogan "New millennium with oil self-sufficiency”, the Congress promoted the discussions between the National Government and the private sector to encourage improvements in the exploration activity and in the use of technology for the recovery of hydrocarbons in the fields being exploited.
The main objectives of the VIII Congress were to increase the exploratory activity and the recovery of gas and crude oil in the fields, as well as present and debate the technical and scientific advances of the national and international oil industry.
Congress 2003
X COLOMBIAN PETROLEUM CONGRESS - 2003
The X Colombian Petroleum Congress was held in the Center of Conventions Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, from 14th to 17th October 2003.
Under the slogan "Petroleum and Gas: Viability for Colombia", the event gathered people from the whole productive chain of hydrocarbons, with the main objective of finding and contributing concrete proposals for the development of the sector, for a real consolidation of national progress.
Acipet thanks the Ministry of Mines and Energy and to ECOPETROL, for its support; to the Organizing Committee, the lecturers and panelists, and the sponsoring companies.
The final recommendations, focused on the National Government and investors, looking for an effective contribution, regarding the reactivación of the national oil industry, that which will result in employment and economic and social development for Colombia.
RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE X COLOMBIAN PETROLEUM CONGRESS
To revise the national plan of development of the National Government with adjusted premises to the recent results. To establish a practical mechanism for financial and operational resources so that ECOPETROL can develop exploratory programs in accordance with the necessities of the country.
To create incentives for the exploration and exploitation of raw heavy, as well as the improvement or adjustment that is required in the refineries, pipelines and industries for their reliable and profitable use.
To maintain the process of promotion of activation of oil fields and of known but unexploited fields.
To establish the responsibility and the National Government's participation and of the operating companies and of oil services in the handling of security and of the risks in the oil environment.
